Water as a Heat-Transfer Medium

In WSHP systems, water is used as a heat-transfer medium, which serves as a more energy-efficient medium when compared to air systems.

Superior Heat Transfer: Water's high thermal conductivity allows it to absorb and release heat much more effectively than air.
Stable Temperatures: With a higher heat capacity, water can store a larger amount of thermal energy without large temperature fluctuations, allowing a WSHP to operate more efficiently.
Long Distance Transfer: Water can efficiently transport thermal energy over long distances with minimal heat loss due to its high thermal capacity and the use of insulated pipes.

ECM Fans

With optional electronically commutated (EC) fan motors and 4-position fan speed control, Daikin’s water source heat pumps deliver high efficiencies at the lowest noise to ensure premium performance.
Additionally, smart fan controls further reduce energy consumption and sound by delivering optimal airflow during operation.

High Efficiency Compressor

High efficiency rotary (sizes 007-019) and scroll (sizes 024-070) compressors are designed to optimize heat pump duty and performance. Multi-stage compression operates at lower compressor and fan speeds, resulting in quieter operation, lower energy consumption, and uniform room air temperatures.

Waterside Economizer

Often referred to as "Free Cooling," SmartSource's Waterside Economizer helps to reduce energy consumption by using cold loop water temperature to condition a space without energizing mechanical cooling. Buildings will benefit from the waterside economizer when loop temperatures are cool enough to provide air conditioning to the space.
